"Typewriting the Abstract

 In  her 2008-2009, painter Jae Nam has brought many references and allusions to her central themes of  mass media and culture.Nam tackles these issues through the very immediate voice of painting.Nam use  this medium to step back and comment on an industry and  at the same time,engage head on into a dialogue about communication and expression....that way that reuses the  masking tape leaving traces of the still wet paint and laying it down quickly with every possibility of the occurrence of accidental mark. ...Nam fights to keep that expression and personal reflection. For me, Nam's practice has involved conflating notions of minimalism with expressionism, technology with humanity. The subtlety and the sophistication present in her painting are at the cutting edge of contemporary painting.
